Becoming a move of God.

Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? Acts 1:10

One of the most common mantras one will hear in Christian circles is that there is a great revival coming soon. It seems nigh impossible to be in the company of believers for long without hearing it. It usually comes within a minutes or so of someone having said that their own locality is particularly unresponsive to the gospel and will often be followed with the remark that someone has heard that the revival when it comes will come from their area.

Allow me to say that while I passionately believe there is a great revival coming I believe that this truth is at the same time a wonderful promise and a fig leaf used to hide our unbelief.

The Holy Spirit wants to lead teach the church to stop acting like a widow and start living like a bride. He does not want us to be looking for a move of God but rather to become a move of God.

In John 1 jesus called Nathanuel. He tells him that he will see the heavens opened and the angles of God ascending upon the son of man. To most of us gentiles that just sounds like a prosaic image but a young Jewish man would have known that Jesus was referring to Bethel- The house of God where Jacob saw the ladder and the heavens opened.

In effect Jesus was saying to Nathaniel that "I am Bethel" You no longer need to go to the physical Bethel to have an experience of heaven. For the next 3 and a half years Bethel walked around Israel and anyone who came within the influence of Jesus also came under the influence of heaven.

We owe our generation more than information, we should be an encounter with God waiting to happen.

For God was with Him..................... Acts 10:38
